Tottenham boost as Man United ready to axe target once Sancho deal is complete

Tottenham handed boost in pursuit of Man United star Anthony Martial

According to the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur may have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Anthony Martial as Manchester United are ready to sell him if they sign Jadon Sancho.

Sancho has been a target for Manchester United since the last summer window. And they might finally be set to land the England international this summer from Borussia Dortmund. Indeed, it is claimed that the Red Devils are close to agreeing a deal worth £80m for the speedy winger with the German outfit.

Gary Neville wants Manchester United to offer Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, and Daniel James for Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane.

And, once the deal is over the line, the report adds that Manchester United would consider axing Anthony Martial this summer, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Martial has been with United since 2015, having arrived in a big-money move from AS Monaco. While the Frenchman enjoyed a stunning debut season in England, he hasn’t been able to reach the same heights consistently year after year.

The 2019/20 term seemed to be a turning point after another fine season but the forward struggled in 2020/21 before picking up an injury which meant he was not selected by France for the Euro 2020 either. Nevertheless, a talented forward who can play on the left or through the centre, Martial is a subject of interest from Tottenham, who could very well end up benefiting from United’s signing of Sancho.

With Spurs having little in the way of backup for Harry Kane, someone like Martial can prove to be a handy signing with his experience in the Premier League. If he is able to add that element of consistency to his game, the Frenchman can go a long way.

Any move, though, would hinge on United signing Sancho and also be dependent on who the next Tottenham manager is. Ex-Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is said to be the front-runner currently.
