Mixed day for Tottenham Hotspur fans as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg downs Spurs teammates in Denmark vs Wales at Euro 2020

A few Tottenham Hotspur stars went head-to-head on Saturday as Denmark took on Wales in the UEFA Euros 2020 last 16. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, as expected, lined up for the Danes in the heart of their midfield.

Wales housed two Spurs players in Ben Davies and Joe Rodon. Gareth Bale, who was at N17 on loan from Real Madrid this season, also retained his place on the right flank.

The Danes looked imperious from the get-go and their pressure paid off when Kasper Dollberg scored a curling finish in the far-right post just before the half-hour mark.

He doubled their lead early into the second half before Joakim Maehle and Martin Braithwaite scored two late goals to seal the 4-0 scoreline. The game also featured a harsh sending off when substitute Harry Wilson was sent off for a yellow card challenge at best.

Nevertheless, Hojberg’s Denmark progressed to the last 8, and are set to face the winner of Czech Republic vs The Netherlands. As for Wales, it was a dagger through their hearts.

The team aimed to replicate their imperious Euros 2016 performance where they made it all the way to the semi-finals but it was not meant to be this time.

All four Spurs players in this match were under the microscope of football fans across the globe and Tottenham fans understandably took a special interest in this game.

Davies had a poor game for the Welsh outfit but Hojbjerg passed the test with flying colours and was the centre of attention after the game, especially from the Spurs faithful. Bale and Rodon, meanwhile, had a very quiet evening.
