Tottenham Hotspur told to hire Jurgen Klinsmann as Jose Mourinho replacement as hunt for new manager continues

Tottenham Hotspur icon, Gary Lineker, took to his Twitter account and suggested that Jurgen Klinsmann should become the new manager of the club.

Spurs are without a permanent manager ever since Jose Mourinho was shown the door by Daniel Levy back in April. Ryan Mason took over as interim manager but it was always unlikely that he would take over permanently.

Ever since the end of last season, Spurs have been linked with numerous names for the job, but no appointment has been made. The latest name touted to become Mourinho’s successor at N17 was Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Portuguese manager quit Wolves recently and is now a wanted man. But Lineker tweeted that Santo has apparently rejected the job – and the former Barcelona and Leicester City striker then suggested Klinsmann’s name for the role.

Nuno Espírito Santo becomes the 483rd person to turn down the @SpursOfficial job. I’m working with someone who actually would love the job and loves the club. @J_Klinsmann would be a great fit: charismatic, knowledgeable, experienced and a former player and fan’s favourite.”

Klinsmann for Tottenham job?

Lineker and Klinsmann are both celebrated figures in Tottenham folklore. The Englishman joined Spurs from Barcelona in 1989 and spent 3 seasons in London before his move to Japan.

Klinsmann, on the other hand, joined Spurs for one season in 1994 before returning on a loan spell to save the club from relegation in the 1997/98 campaign.

However, the 56-year-old’s managerial record isn’t as impressive as his playing career. He has been the manager of Germany, the USA, and Bayern Munich in the past, but has failed to hold down those jobs for too long.

He last managed Hertha Berlin in Bundesliga but was only in charge for 10 games before calling it quits. According to the Daily Mail, Klinsmann has already stated his desire to become the new Spurs boss. It remains to be seen if Spurs contact the German over a possible role, but fans would feel that the club can do better than him.
