Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele a transfer target for Real Madrid
According to the Express, La Liga giants, Real Madrid are plotting a summer raid on Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of midfielder star Tanguy Ndombele.
The 24-year-old signed for Tottenham in the summer of 2019 from Olympique Lyon in a club-record £55m deal. However, Ndombele endured a difficult first season at the club, seemingly falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho.
However, the midfielder showed signs of resurgence in the recently concluded 2020/21 season, even though his form somewhat dipped towards the end of the campaign. Nonetheless, in 46 matches across all competitions, Ndombele scored six goals and set up four more, bettering his returns from his debut season. (h/t Transfermarkt)
And while he might not have made the kind of impact expected of him, Ndombele has still managed to make an impression on Real Madrid’s newly-appointed manager Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian has gotten a good look at the Tottenham star when he was in charge of Everton for the past eighteen months or so and now wants to sign him at Real Madrid. (h/t Express)
Real Madrid need a long-term replacement for former Tottenham man Luka Modric who is entering the final stages of his career at 35. And, Ancelotti is keen on adding some fresh faces to the midfield unit, with Ndombele now emerging as a potential transfer target for this summer. (h/t Express)

Ndombele hasn’t had it easy during his time at Tottenham. But the talent and the quality that he possesses is there for everyone to see. Having missed out on the France squad for the UEFA Euro 2020, he will be aiming to make the cut for the FIFA World Cup next year, which should motivate him further. So, Tottenham should not entertain the possibility of a sale this summer and instead give him confidence to prove his worth to the side.
