Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy instructs Nuno to build team around Harry Kane

According to the Express, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has instructed newly-appointed manager Nuno Espirito Santo to build the team around Harry Kane as he has no intentions of selling the superstar.

Nuno was handed the Tottenham job after a 72-day protracted search for the replacement for Jose Mourinho. The former Wolves boss, however, takes over in a tricky period, considering the team’s biggest and best player, Harry Kane, is said to be wanting to leave this summer.

Indeed, Kane has been heavily linked with a transfer to Premier League champions Manchester City. The Cityzens are already said to have tabled a bid in the region of £100m while also offering players in exchange in order to try and secure the services of the England captain.

However, Daniel Levy is adamant that Kane will not be allowed to leave the club this summer, especially to a direct rival in the Premier League. Indeed, the Spurs’ chairman jas slapped a £150m price tag on the Englishman and informed Nuno to plan for the season with the ace goalscorer at the centre of the scheme. (h/t Express)

If that is the case, then it will be a massive boost for Nuno and Tottenham. The 47-year-old has a major rebuild job at his hands, having taken over the reins from Mourinho as he looks to get the team back into the top four next term.

And doing so without Kane, who was one of the best players in the Premier League during the 2020/21 season – he won the Golden Boot as well as the Playmaker Award – would have been a daunting task.

It remains to be seen how this saga develops in the coming weeks. For now, Kane is away on international duty, hoping to lead England to the UEFA Euro 2020 success.
