Fabio Paratici set to fail in his attempt to sign Jules Kounde
It appears as though the lack of Champions League football is about to hurt Spurs’ transfer plans. According to the Athletic (subscription required) [h/t Express], Jules Kounde has been identified as a priority by Tottenham but he is set to decline the offer due to the lack of Champions League football at N17.
On Jules Kounde
Jules Kounde is a graduate of the Bordeaux academy. He made his first-team debut for Bordeaux in 2017. Kounde made 55 appearances between 2017-2019 for Bordeaux. Sevilla bought Kounde in 2019. The Spanish side paid a whopping €25m for Kounde. He thus became the most expensive signing in Sevilla’s history.
Jules Kounde for Sevilla
He was a part of the Sevilla squad that won the UEFA Europa League in the 2019/20 season. Kounde was rewarded a place in that season’s Europa League ‘Squad of the Season’. He was a part of France’s UEFA Euro 2020 Squad.
Tottenham agreement with Sevilla for Jules Kounde
Tottenham Hotspur’s new managing director was said to be in direct contact with Sevilla. The Athletic’s report claims that Paratici even made terms with Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi. The Spanish side were prepared to sell Kounde. Spurs were ready to offer Davinson Sanchez in an exchange deal.

However, it goes on to add that it was the player who has turned down the offer. No Champions League football is said to be the major reason behind Kounde’s decision. He would rather fancy a switch to Real Madrid. (h/t Express)
