Nuno Espirito Santo calls for patience with young Tottenham starlet Oliver Skipp

Nuno Espirito Santo collected the first win of his Tottenham tenure but eyes were also on the 20-year-old Oliver Skipp. The midfielder is coming back from a productive loan spell at Norwich City. The player proved to be vital in the club’s eventual promotion.

In 2020/21 season, Skipp played 45 games in the championship for the Canaries. However, he picked up an ankle injury on the final day of the season, causing chaos among Spurs fans. Skipp trained with the first-team for the pre-season. However, was deemed unfit for their first friendly against Leyton Orient.

Nuno’s verdict

The manager has called for some time with Skipp. Speaking to Tottenham’s official website, the boss shared that the doctors were ‘worried’ about Skipp comeback from injury. However, he calmed the nerves by saying the game time was good for him.

“We had to be really careful. Us, the doctors were worried because he’s (Skipp) coming back from injury, so we had to measure the time not only with him but Japhet also, we’re very careful with the players. But good for him, and it’s always nice to have bodies, so the more players you have, the more options and the more solutions you’ll find”, said Nuno Espirito Santo.
