Scottish side Celtic are closing in to secure the signature of Tottenham’s Joe Hart

According to Daily Record, Celtic have stepped up their interest in signing Joe Hart from Tottenham Hotspur. The report adds that the club have accelerated their interest and they might be able to land the former England international for just £1million.

The player is in his last year of contract with Spurs. However, the club have informed Celtic that they won’t let Hart go on a free transfer.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported Celtic’s interest in Joe Hart earlier this week. His tweet suggested that the negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs.

Spurs’ goalkeeping options

So far, the club have four goalkeepers registered in their senior team. Hugo Lloris, Joe Hart, Alfie Whiteman and new signing, Pierluigi Gollini.

Hugo Lloris, who is also in the final year of his contract, is expected to start as the first choice.

Tottenham have officially announced the signing of Pierluigi Gollini. The player will join Spurs on a season-long loan, with an option to make it permanent. Gollini made 25 Serie A appearances for Atalanta last season and could be the second choice this campaign.

Alfie Whiteman has been promoted to the first team and would be looking to make an impression. The player is yet to make his Premier League debut but he could well be the third choice in the upcoming season, especially if Hart leaves.

The veteran English stopper has apparently been told that he would not be involved in Nuno Espirito Santo’s plan for the upcoming season, and is given the option to compete with Alfie Whiteman for the third spot or to find a new club.
