Graham Roberts insists Tottenham should sell club captain Hugo Lloris

In his piece with Football FanCast (h/t Express) Graham Roberts revealed his harsh verdict on Tottenam Hugo Lloris. Graham Roberts, who made 80 appearances for Tottenham, wants the club to sell Hugo Lloris.

Lloris is in his final year of the contract. The World cup winner will be able to leave the club on a free transfer next summer. Hence, according to Roberts, it would be a smart move for Tottenham to sell the Frenchman.

“If he doesn’t sign a contract, he has to go because we don’t want to lose him for nothing.

“Maybe. If he doesn’t sign a contract, you don’t want to play a goalkeeper that at the end of the season is going to walk out.”

Goodbye Lloris?

Lloris was recently asked about his Tottenham future. However, the goalkeeper said that he will answer the question once the Euros are over.

Former Premier League keeper, Paddy Kenny shared Graham Robert’s opinion. He feels that Lloris has struggled with consistency over the last few years. While the club have already signed Pierluigi Gollini, Kenny suggests the Sheffield United goalkeeper to compete for the No.1 spot at Tottenham.

“I don’t think he’s been the best or the most consistent over the past few years anyway.

“So why not go there and challenge him for that spot? Ramsdale is still a young lad so it will be perfect for him to learn off someone like Lloris as well.”

Should Tottenham keep Hugo Lloris?

Business-wise, it could be considered a disaster for a club to lose someone like Lloris on a free transfer. As Paddy Kenny suggested, someone like Aaron Ramsdale could be a suitable replacement.

However, keeping Hugo Lloris has its benefits for Tottenham. Likes of Gollini and Alfie Whiteman could learn valuable things from Lloris and that could help Spurs in the long run. The Frenchman’s leadership skills might come in handy for new manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

If things go well, there is always a chance that the player might commit to a contract extension.
