Tanguy Ndombele was visibly frustrated after Eric Dier’s challenge during Tottenham Hotspur training session
New boss Nuno Espirito Santo was overseeing a Tottenham training session this week but tempers flared as Tanguy Ndombele, who was tripped by Eric Dier, was later seen hurling a cup across the pitch. (h/t The Express)
The incident took place during a mini-game between the players. Ndombele, who received the ball on his feet on the left-hand side of the relatively small-sized pitch, tried to progress with the ball but was quickly closed down by Eric Dier, a member of the other team.
While Ndombele found it hard to get away from Dier, a quick stepover enabled him to get past the Englishman but was soon tripped by a clip on the heels, which led to Ndombele tumble down on the floor.
While nobody was sure whether Ndombele was upset with the tackle or the fact that it was not a given as a foul, he remained on the turf before getting up to his feet. However, Ndombele made no attempt to join the game, after which a goal was scored, and the match was halted.
Tempers flaring
The Frenchman plodded on to the side of the pitch and grabbed a small cup which he tried to hurl across the pitch in annoyance with the earlier challenge on him.
He later took a seat, after which Eric Dier joined him, and the pair appeared to shake hands, which suggested that there were no hard feelings over the tackle, with the entire footage being captured by Football.london’s Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold (h/t The Express).

While this was a one-off, Nuno Espirito Santo would be hoping to avoid such incidents in the future, especially in a training camp surrounded by the club’s supporters, which was only the second time fans had been allowed inside the stadium since March 2020.
But there doesn’t seem to be too much of a cause for concern for Spurs fans. Tempers flaring in a football match is something that is a part and parcel of the game, and it’s a good sign that Ndombele reacted in a way which avoided any physical confrontation.
