Nuno Espirito Santo provides the latest injury update on Tottenham skipper Hugo Lloris

Nuno Espirito Santo provided the latest on Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris. The club played their first game in the Mind series against Chelsea. However, the World Cup winner was missing from the squad. New signing Pierluigi Gollini started between the sticks, while Alfie Whiteman was on the bench.

Speaking to the reporters, Nuno confirmed that Hugo Lloris had an injury. He adds that the player had a little problem during Euros. However, he expects him to start training soon. 

“Yeah, he had a problem during the Euros but I think we have good news and tomorrow he can start.”

The Frenchman recently returned to Tottenham after his post-Euros break. He could be in line for Tottenham’s next pre-season friendly against Arsenal on August 8. 

Lloris’ situation at Tottenham 

As per a report earlier published by The Athletic, Hugo Lloris is set to have a discussion with the club about his future. The reports suggest that the player has entered the final year of his contract.

Tottenham could be in a tough spot with the player. Another year with a world-class player like Lloris would be ideal. The 34-year-old joined Tottenham in 2012. Since then, he has become one of the influential figures at the club. Lloris played his part in the club’s memorable 2019 UEFA Champions League run.
