Paul Stewart wants Tottenham Hotspur to sign Wolves defender Conor Coady

Speaking to This is Futbol (h/t Birmingham Live), former Tottenham Hotspur player, Paul Stewart, has urged Nuno Espirito Santo to sign Conor Coady from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 28-year-old defender was a stellar part of Nuno’s backline during the Portuguese manager’s reign at the Molineux. Coady came through Liverpool’s esteemed youth academy but was sold to Huddersfield in 2014.

Wolves came in for him a year later and since then, he has become their main man at the back. Much of his career progression came under Santo during their time together in Wolverhampton in England’s top division.

And while the defender is linked with a move to Merseyside club Everton, Stewart thinks that Coady would be an upgrade on some of the options that Spurs have in their defence right now.

Would Coady suit Spurs?

“Almost certainly he (Coady) will be one of the players that he will be targeting. Would Conor Coady go, or does he wait for something bigger? I would take Coady. He’s definitely a step up from Sanchez and Dier – they’ve been found wanting.”

His comments come after Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy have already seen Toby Alderweireld join Al-Duhail SC. Moreover, Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez can also leave the club this summer. (h/t Birmingham Live)

There is, of course, nothing to suggest that Spurs will want to move for Coady in the future. But the Wolves man would be a nice addition in the backline, especially considering his history with Nuno.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

The Lilywhites have already signed Cristian Romero from Atalanta and if anymore of their centre-backs leave this summer, then there could arise a need to get in perhaps one more defender.
