Tottenham tell Manchester United they only want cash for Harry Kane; no swap deal

According to Tribal Football (h/t Express), Tottenham have let Manchester United know that they only want cash for Harry Kane and no swap deals. Despite Manchester City leading the efforts to land Kane, United are hoping to make a move late in the transfer window. However, the £150million asking price could force them to look elsewhere.

Last week was a pivotal one for Spurs and Kane. The striker had apparently failed to report for preseason training after his holidays and that led to a wildfire of speculation over his future. The England captain is keen on leaving the club but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is determined to hold on to him.

While Kane is finally back and in contention to play the season opener against City, his future is still up in the air. Daniel Levy has stood firm that he will not let the striker go. Manchester City have been one of the sides that have actively shown some level of interest.

However, it has come to the fore that Manchester United are eyeing up a late move for Kane. They have already spent big on the likes of Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho.

Whatever be the case, Spurs have made it clear that swap deals will not be entertained and only a full cash amount of £150million will be accepted. That could deter United and force them to look at alternatives such as Luka Jovic. (h/t Express)

Spurs are standing firm on keeping Kane and it would take another record fee from either of the Manchester clubs to price him away. For now, nothing is set in stone and Kane might as well make a move if City decide to stump up the cash.
