Transfer News: Tottenham receive a boost in chase for Kurt Zouma

According to transfer news from BILD (h/t Football.london), Tottenham have received a welcome boost in their efforts to sign Kurt Zouma. Chelsea transfer supremo Marina Granovskaia has made it clear that the club are open to selling the defender to a rival like Spurs.

Over the last few days, Spurs were the latest club to take an interest in the sidelined Zouma at Chelsea. Once a regular in the side under Frank Lampard, Zouma has now lost that status as he sporadically features for Thomas Tuchel. Although, this interest of Spurs dates back to Mourinho’s time at the club. (h/t Football.london)

Despite the concrete interest in Zouma, Spurs were not really favourites. After all, both sides have far from an amicable relationship that dates back to Chelsea wanting to sign Luka Modric back in 2012. Levy would refuse the same and end up selling him to Real Madrid. However, those issues are not likely to play spoilsport now.

Chelsea are said to be open to letting Zouma leave if Spurs do come in with an acceptable offer as claimed by Sport BILD’s Christian Falk. This stance taken by transfer chief Granovskaia is to facilitate the signing of Jules Kounde from Sevilla. Even with West Ham in the running, Spurs are said to be holding the edge as they are better positioned to accommodate his wage demands of £100,000-a-week. (h/t Football.london)

It is definitely a much-needed boost for Spurs and Nuno who is keen to add another defender in a bid to partner Cristian Romero. Zouma is a solid operator who can impress if given the right surroundings. Spurs will be hoping they can get a deal over the line sooner rather than later.
