Manchester United plan to return for Tottenham star Harry Kane next season

According to ESPN (h/t Express), Manchester United are likely to revisit their interest in Tottenham star Harry Kane next summer. Despite signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Kane remains on the wishlist for United and could test the waters next year.

Tottenham faced a huge challenge this season in keeping Harry Kane. The striker had made it clear that he wanted to leave the club after so many years of futile trophy chases. Manchester City came forward and tried their best but it was of no use. Spurs knew they had all the cards in hand and no sale was made.

While Kane did go on to commit his immediate future to the club, it seems that he will be pursued again but by another Manchester club. Manchester United held an interest in Kane over the summer and could revisit that next year. While they did sign Ronaldo this season, they are prepared to come after Kane in the next.

Rob Dawson of ESPN was asked about Kane’s future and he shed some light on the situation. He revealed that United indeed have Kane on their wishlist.

“Manchester United. They registered an interest, along with Chelsea and City, when it became clear Kane wanted to leave Tottenham this summer, but their priorities were always a winger (Jadon Sancho) and a centre-back (Raphael Varane).

“A striker will be among the top targets next year and Kane remains on the list, even though they have brought Cristiano Ronaldo back. United have other options – namely, Haaland and Mbappe – but Manchester City and Real Madrid will also be looking for proven scorers.”

Spurs have not done business with United since 2008 when Dimitar Berbatov moved. Since then they have refused to sell the likes of Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld to the Red Devils. (h/t Express)

Hence, it is hard to see them letting go of a star man like Kane. Regardless, there could be approaches next season and it will be interesting to see what happens.
