AS Roma plan contract talks with Tottenham target Lorenzo Pellegrini
According to Football Italia, AS Roma are planning to hold contract talks with Tottenham target Lorenzo Pellegrini. The Italian star will see his contract expire at the end of the season and Roma are trying to tie the player down to a new deal. Spurs and Liverpool retain some degree of interest as well.
Spurs did some good business over the summer bringing in some important players to plug the gaps in the squad. However, they did not really bring in established players that can hit the ground running straight away. It’s not that Spurs did not try but they seemed to have failed to bring in targets like Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Since joining Roma in 2017, Pellegrini has blossomed into one of the best young midfielders in Italian football. The midfielder has a knack for scoring and does not shy away from setting up goals for his teammates. He was rather unlucky to miss out on the EURO 2020 win with Italy but that did not stop Spurs from pursuing him.
Pellegrini could have been a huge coup considering his contract ends this season. However, reports in the Italian media suggest that Roma are keen to tie him to a new deal. The club officials are set to meet with his agent next week to find a solution. Currently, a contract is far from getting agreed on.

Fabio Paratici is said to be a huge fan of the player and it was no surprise to see him go after the playmaker. However, January will give Spurs a chance to sign him for free if he chooses not to pen a new deal. For now, Spurs will have to wait and watch.
