Tottenham ace Cristian Romero draws praise from Brazil legend Cafu

In an interview with Omnicom Group (h/t Mirror), Brazil legend Cafu has showered some praise on Tottenham new boy Cristian Romero. The Argentine defender was hailed as one of the best young names in the 2021 Copa America, with the ex-Brazil captain praising him for his performance during the final.

Over the summer, Spurs managed to land a huge coup when they got their hands on Cristian Romero. The defender had impressed at Atalanta on loan from Juventus and that made them sign him permanently, only to loan him out to Spurs. We do have the obligation to sign him permanently next season for £42.5million.

Romero showed he is the real deal when he helped Argentina to a much-awaited Copa America. He kept things tight at the back so that the forwards could do their job. In the final, Romero kept a side like Brazil at bay. That raised his stock further and Spurs knew they had gotten a gem of a player.

Speaking about a few talents from South America, Brazil legend Cafu single out a few names. Among them was Romero (h/t Mirror).

“There are several young players who deserve to be highlighted. For Brazil, I was impressed by Lucas Paqueta, for example. Also the Colombian Luis Diaz, MVP of the tournament, and Cristian Romero, from Argentina, who had a very good game in the final.”
