Liverpool enter the race to sign Tottenham target Franck Kessie

According to Calciomercato (h/t ESPN), Liverpool are all set to enter the race for Tottenham target Franck Kessie. They are actually linked with a swap deal that would see Thiago Alcantara head the other way. PSG are also understood to be after the AC Milan midfielder.

No sooner did the summer transfer window end than clubs started planning for the January window. It would seem Franck Kessie of AC Milan could be at the centre of a transfer saga. It’s not without reason though. The 24-year-old is one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe and has become a star at AC Milan.

He was one of the reasons why AC Milan finished second in Serie A. Despite being a midfielder, he went on to produce a tally of 13 goals in the league. The Ivorian is an able defensive player as well. However, Milan now face a fight to keep him at the club and his current deal ends in less than a year.

That has led to clubs such as Spurs keeping tabs on him. However, they have been joined by Liverpool who are now after Kessie. It has also been claimed that they might sweeten the deal by offering Thiago Alcantara in a swap deal. Along with these two clubs, PSG are also after the midfield powerhouse. (h/t ESPN)

All these clubs can sign Kessie for free by agreeing on a pre-contract with him in January itself, granted that the player doesn’t renew his deal at San Siro. It would seem that Spurs will not have it easy in this race for Kessie. Now with Liverpool involved, it can get even tougher.
