Tim Sherwood does not think Harry Kane will win the golden boot this season

Speaking to Ladbrokes (h/t Daily Star), Tim Sherwood has ruled out Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane from winning the Golden Boot this season. The former Spurs manager felt that Tottenham’s style of play will be detrimental to the striker notching up the goals.

Tottenham and Kane endured a tumultuous summer where a separation looked to be on the cards. However, the striker ended up staying back and he was reintroduced to the team. Little did Spurs know that Kane would be struggling this badly. It was rather surprising as he won the Golden Boot and tallied the highest number of assists last season.

In four league games this season, since returning to the side, Kane has yet to score a single goal while his peers have been slamming goals left and right. Other established forwards like Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo have already bagged three goals each. That has put the scanner on Kane who is going through this rather unusual struggle in front of goal.

Former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood opened up on the issue and was of the opinion that Kane might not finish the season with the Golden Boot this season.

“I could see Ronaldo being top scorer, why not? He’s in good company for a start. Kane’s a late starter and the way Tottenham are playing not creating many chances you can almost rule him out. He’s a multiple winner so should you ever rule him out? But you’d have to say at the moment they’re not creating too many chances and Kane’s let the other players get a head start on him.”

Tottenham have scored only three goals in five league games this season. Out of that, Son Heung-Min has two and Dele Alli has the other. It’s hard to say at this point due to what Kane is struggling with. Might be Nuno’s new setup but it cannot be pinpointed. From the looks of it, Kane might have a hard time retaining his Golden Boot this season.
