Tottenham injury update: Lucas Moura cleared, Steven Bergwijn not okay yet for Arsenal clash

Speaking in the pre-match press conference (h/t Football.london), Nuno Espirito Santo has issued an injury update on Tottenham Hotspur duo, Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn ahead of the Arsenal clash. While the situation regarding Lucas was encouraging, the same could not be said for Bergwijn.

The injuries just never seem to end for Tottenham with several key players missing important games over the last few weeks. Some returned from the international break with injuries while others have picked up knocks during the recent games. Nuno has hardly been able to name a full-strength side.

Steven Bergwijn came back with a knock from international duty and has been in and out of the side. He played the Rennes game but was taken off. Lucas has been a regular presence in the side but he too went off injured. They played no part in the last two games against Chelsea and Wolves.

Nuno provided a rather not-so-encouraging update on Bergwijn ahead of the Arsenal clash.

“Stevie is not ok, Sess also but the good news is that Lucas was able to join the group. Not yet. I think I explained the injury he has is very painful so he has to settle down the pain. He’s not totally stopped. He’s doing some fitness, some upper body. For now he’s not available.”

However, there was some good news for Lucas who was back in training and might be in like to make an appearance.

“We have Lucas back also which is good news so let’s try to make and prepare the game.”

Tottenham could use all the help they can get at this point with the last two league outings ending in embarrassing losses. However, they have to produce a much better show as this will be the North London derby and a lot will be at stake.
