Ollie Watkins is being considered by Tottenham Hotspur as a potential addition to the frontline
Spurs have not had the best start to their new season, but things did not look like this at the beginning. The Lilywhites were top of the table before the September international break as they had won all three games since the start of the Premier League, including a huge victory against Manchester City.
However, things have changed in the last two weeks as they have been defeated thrice by London rivals. The latest defeat came at the hands of North London rivals Arsenal on Sunday at the Emirates.
Another worry for Nuno Espirito Santo is the lack of goals from their star-forward Harry Kane. The English international has not found the back of the net in the league yet this season, and there are a lot of doubts in the Tottenham camp regarding whether the 28-year-old can lead the club’s frontline in four competitions.
In fact, the club have now set their eyes on Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins, who joined the Villa Park outfit last summer for £33million. Since joining the club, Watkins has gone on to score 16 goals and provided a further 5 assists in 44 appearances under Dean Smith.
The 25-year-old is also said to be considered a perfect fit at Spurs, although there are no suggestions to indicate that the North London outfit are planning for life without Kane despite his poor form at the start of the season.

It is understood that Villa are likely to demand a higher fee than the £33million shelled out by them a couple of years ago.
Thus, with plans already being put in place for next season, it remains to be seen whether Spurs translate their interest into a formalized offer for the English international.
