Nuno Espirito Santo praises Heung-min Son after Tottenham Hotspur’s narrow win vs Aston Villa

Speaking in the post-match press conference (h/t football.london), Tottenham Hotspur manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, praised Heung-min Son for his dazzling display against Aston Villa.

The South Korean winger was at the peak of his powers and had a massive hand in both of Spurs goals. It was Son’s ball that found Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for the opener in the 27th minute.

And it was Son’s run and pass into the box that forced in an own goal from Matt Targett. Ollie Watkins’ goal was sandwiched between both of Tottenham’s goals but that only proved to be a consolation for the Villans.

And speaking after the game, the Portuguese manager was careful to distribute the praise amongst the whole team but made it a point to compliment Son on his performance.

Nuno happy with Son masterclass

“All the players are very important, all the players. Not only Sonny did a good game, overall the team did very well. Sonny, the way he took the team forward and the way he imbalanced them on 1v1 situations was very important, but all the team, there were a lot of good individual performances and when this happens the team plays better, it is natural so I am pleased.

Spurs were on a terrible run which saw them lose their last three games in the league consecutively. Wins in the EFL Cup and Conference League were not enough to stop the pressure building on Nuno.

Santo’s run of three defeats does not negate that he also led the club to three league wins in a row during the start of the season. Granted he is not one of the elites in the managerial world, but fans need to give him a bit more time.

Harry Kane is 28 and still without a trophy while the fans have not seen their team lift silverware since 2008. If the club starts the policy of sacking managers after just a couple of months, it would lead to more instability.
