Transfer News: Boost for Tottenham Hotspur as Nahitan Nandez can leave Cagliari in January
Speaking to Calcio Napoli 24 (h/t The Sun), Pablo Bentancur, the agent of Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Nahitan Nandez, claimed that his client can leave Cagliari this January.
The Lilywhites were linked with a move for him in the latest summer transfer window but a move failed to materialize because of their apparent unwillingness to meet the £25million price tag. Apart from Spurs, Leeds United and Napoli are also in the running.
And Bentancur has even gone to claim that Cagliari’s president will try his best to offload the Uruguay international in the January window.
“Giulini has promised the player and me to do everything possible so that he leaves in the January market. Nandez wants to win something; he wants to play in the Champions League. The president has given us his word.”
Nandez boost for Spurs
In another potential boost for Spurs, the agent has mentioned that the player can leave for a price tag lower than his current £31million clause.
“We hope that in January there may be some movement, we hope in the direction of Naples. I think he will sell at a lower price than the one requested, there is a €36million [£31m] clause.”
Spurs fans would be hoping that they can edge the other suitors for Nandez’s signature considering he has been a star player in Cagliari’s underwhelming team ever since he joined from Boca Juniors in 2019.
This season, he has regained his status as Cagliari’s commander-in-chief in midfield but has been unable to help his team make a strong start to the season. Spurs should look to move for the midfielder in January.
