Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is included in the full list of nominees for Ballon d’Or 2021
It has been revealed that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is part of the 30-man nominee list for the Ballon d’Or 2021. (h/t Football.london)
The 28-year-old English striker has endured a tough start to his Premier League this year. He is yet to score for the Lilywhites in the Premier League this season. The elite striker finds himself in the prestigious list which consists of some of the best footballers in the world.
The Spurs striker scored 33 goals and provided 17 assists for the club last season but hasn’t been able to continue his glowing form this term. The English captain has also been linked with a move away from the club. He has been a dependable asset for the North London club throughout the years and an instrumental part of their attack.
The experienced striker has also won the Golden Boot award 3 times (2015/16, 2016/17, and 2020/21) in his career with the Lilywhites till now. The 28-year-old is the only player from Tottenham Hotspur to be included in this list.
Meanwhile fellow London rivals Chelsea have 5 players in this list ( Cesar Azpilicueta, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Romelu Lukaku, Mason Mount). The blues enjoyed a great year under Thomas Tuchel as they went on to win the UEFA Champions League as well as the UEFA Super Cup.
Tottenham Hotspur have struggled to keep up with their form at the start of the season and 3 consecutive losses saw the club which included humiliating defeats to fellow London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men recorded a hard-fought victory against Aston Villa in their last PL match and would want to continue in the same fashion.
The Portuguese manager would also like to see some of the fine form that Kane had displayed last season for the Lilywhites. The English striker found his scoring touch in the UEFA Europa Conference League but a barren run in the PL so far has left fans and supporters asking for more.
