Jose Mourinho seeking to sign Tottenham Hotspur starlet Josh Oluwayemi for AS Roma
According to HITC (h/t Express), AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho is keen to raid former side Tottenham Hotspur for gifted young footballer Josh Oluwayemi.
The 20-year-old goalkeeper has caught the eye with a number of good performances for Spurs’ reserves. This has earned the attention of Mourinho who is busy rebuilding Roma. It was after all under the Portuguese that Oluwayemi found himself included in the first team training group at Tottenham.
Oluwayemi’s deal at Tottenham runs until June 2022. Unless fresh terms are penned, Mourinho could land the youngster on a free at the end of the season. A talented player, the 20-year-old is yet to break into the Spurs first team.
Oluwayemi is behind Hugo Lloris and Pierluigi Gollini in the Spurs pecking order. The French superstar too is in the final few months of his contract at the club and whether this is the opening the 20-year-old Tottenham goalie needs.
A move to the Italian capital could prove Oluwayemi with an interesting opportunity to test himself and take the next step. In Mourinho, he already has a manager who is well aware of his potential.
The young Spurs ace could look at former Chelsea star Tammy Abraham and his decision to swap Stamford Bridge for Rome. Abraham struggled for playtime under Thomas Tuchel and was convinced by Mourinho to join him at the Stadio Olimpico.
He has since made 10 appearances for the Italian side, scoring four goals and assisting three more. Whether Oluwayemi is also keen to take the plunge remains to be seen.
