Transfer News: Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele ‘offered’ to Barcelona
According to Spanish outlet Sport via HITC (h/t football.london), Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Tanguy Ndombele, has been ‘offered’ to Barcelona as his future at N17 continues to be uncertain.
The French midfielder was signed amidst much hype from Olympique Lyonnaise in 2019 for a club-record amount of €60million. But since then, he has struggled to find favour under first Jose Mourinho, then Nuno Espirito Santo.
The former Wolves manager waited a while to give the Frenchman his first few minutes under his tenure, and it coincided with Spurs’ rancid run in the Premier League. He has since featured in the last three of the Lilywhites’ league games.
But the report claims that Ndombele has been offered to the Catalan giants as Ronald Koeman is looking for a midfielder akin to Georginio Wijnaldum- who is now at PSG.
Ndombele to Barca?
Apart from the 24-year-old France international, Barcelona are also eyeing a move for Spurs target Franck Kessie, as well as Donny van de Beek of Manchester United and Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic.
Ndombele continues to divide opinions within the Spurs fanbase with his work rate and ability. While his talent is there for all to see, he could perhaps do a bit more off the ball and the opposition are in possession.
As it stands, Spurs have a talented pool of central midfielders including Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Giovani Lo Celso, Oliver Skipp, Harry Winks, and Dele Alli. But with Moussa Sissoko leaving the club this summer, losing another central midfielder without bringing in a new face will impact squad depth in that area.
