Tottenham has come out against a report claiming that there is a clause in Nuno’s contract which allows the club to not pay any compensation if they decide to sack him.

Nuno Espirito Santo, Spurs’ newly appointed manager, is facing huge pressure at the moment because of the poor run of form following a strong start to the league campaign. The recent league win against Aston Villa helped in relieving some of that pressure but they are still a far cry away from being on the right track. If you are one of those tipsters who , it would have been the right move to have a punt.

David Ornstein, Football Correspondent of The Athletic (h/t Daily Star), gave a report on Monday which stated that there is a clause in the former Wolves boss’s contract which is activated if Nuno fails to reach a specified target this season. The report states that the specified clause is triggered on failure to achieve a top-six finish this season.

However, the North London club have dismissed these claims that would have helped Daniel Levy if he eventually decided to part ways with the Portuguese. Levy would prefer stability rather than uncertainty at the club and he may not hesitate to sack Nuno if there is not a turnaround.

Having only a two-year contract under his belt, Nuno may not feel that he is getting support from the chairman. It also does not help how the Spurs boss was not the first choice for Levy after facing multiple rejections from other managers. Spurs chairman would be facing stern backlash if things go south under Nuno’s reign.

Santo, on the other hand, would be looking to recapture Kane’s form in the Premier League after the England superstar had a noteworthy season. After the failed move to Man City, Harry may not be in the right mindset to continue at Spurs. If the Portuguese boss can ignite the England international’s desire to win trophies he could earn himself a favour.

Tottenham’s lack of trophies is a serious concern considering that the golden generation is within the club itself. It could be helpful for all parties if they actively aim for silverware, whether a FA cup or even a Carabao cup, even if they are not able to win the league.
