Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane backs himself despite going through a barren patch in the Premier League

In conversation with ITV (h/t The Times) [Subscription Required], Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane stated that he was confident about getting back to his goal-scoring form despite his run barren stretch in the Premier League recently.

Kane has had to suffer some criticism for his recent performances for Tottenham Hotspur. The talismanic striker scored 33 goals and provided 17 assists across all competitions for the North London club last season but has failed to open his goal-scoring account with Spurs in the PL this campaign.

The English striker was being linked to fellow rivals Manchester City but the move eventually fell as Spurs were not yet ready to part ways with their talismanic striker. Despite the form and speculation of his future with the PL club, the 28-year-old striker had maintained his goal-scoring form for England. His unimpressive performance against Hungary this month ended his 15 match scoring streak for the England national team and raised further questions about his abilities.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker went on to speak about his current form and has backed himself to get going sooner rather than later:

“Every time I step on the field I give 110 percent. Performances for club and country maybe haven’t been there the last few weeks but there is no need to panic. I am confident in myself, confident in the teams I play in.”

The Lilywhites have had a mixed start to the season and are currently 8th in the PL table. Despite all the naysayers England manager Gareth Southgate has been quite supportive of the veteran striker and has backed him throughout.

The English captain also spoke about the season and that he would try his best to regain his stellar form again:

“I have still scored nine goals this season. I am there and working as hard as I can for the team. When the chances come I am confident I will put them away.

Nuno Espirito Santo took over the manager’s post at Spurs only this season and could still be trying to establish the best system and players for the team. A change in coaching and the rumour mill can take its toll on the best of players but the Lilywhites will be hoping that the star striker can put all of it behind him and regain his goal-scoring for Tottenham Hotspur.
