Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez hails Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as one of the best ahead of EFL Cup tie

In conversation ahead of their Carabao Cup fixture (h/t Sky Sports), Jay Rodriguez shares his thoughts on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane. The Burnley striker holds the English captain in high regard and hails him as a complete forward.

The Lilywhites have had some disappointing results in the recent past and Nuno Espirito Santo would be hoping that his men can bounce back and put in a stunning display against the Clarets. The North London club have failed to create a substantial attacking threat this season as their star striker Harry Kane is yet to get going.

The 28-year-old striker has scored only 1 goal in 8 Premier League appearances this season. On his day the English international can be quite a prolific striker but he seems to have become just a shadow of his former self this campiagn.

Despite Kane’s poor statistics in the PL this season, Rodriguez spoke highly about the Spurs striker and described him as ruthless in front of goal:

“I feel he is (the best in the country). I feel like he’s got everything as a striker. As a character, as a person, obviously, I don’t know him but what you see of him is level-headed but also ruthless in everything he does on the pitch. He can finish any type of finish and he’s world-class and I think definitely the best striker.”

Burnley have themselves been struggling this campaign and are yet to record their first victory in England’s top-flight football league this season. Sean Dyche’s squad are currently sitting in the PL relegation zone and their only victories have come in the domestic cup competition so far.

Nuno would also be hoping that Kane can regain some of his blistering form and help the squad maintain some consistency. Poor performances in their matches against West ham United and SBV Vitesse have highlighted their lack of attacking threat as well as squad depth.

A domestic cup may be their best bet for a trophy this season and the Portuguese manager may have to rely on some of his stalwarts if he is to make a substantial impact at the North London club.
