Barcelona show a keen interest in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele

According to the Spanish newspaper Sport (h/t ESPN), Barcelona are keeping tabs on the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Tanguy Ndombele, who has had a mixed time in England.

Ndombele was signed by Daniel Levy for a fee of €62 million in 2019 from Olympic Lyon. It was a club-record fee that still stands today. Despite a good start tp his time at the Lane, he has failed to keep up the performance levels.

Ndombele’s time at Tottenham could however appear to be coming to an end. Spurs are said to be willing to listen to proposals following the arrival of Italian maverick Antonio Conte.

The Catalan club is in a financial crisis at the moment, which has seen their club legend, Lionel Messi, leave for Paris Saint-Germain. Hence, it is very doubtful that the club would be able to afford to sign the 24-year-old permanently.

A loan offer is said to be the only probable option for the Blaugrana club in such a dire state. It remains to be seen whether Levy would entertain such an offer that does not guarantee a sum for the Frenchman.

Earlier, Tottenham were linked to AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie shortly after the announcement of Conte. Should that interest be finalised, it could facilitate the departure of the France international.

The French midfielder’s time at the North club could come to a bitter end should a move materialise to Barca. The supporters would also be disappointed that the promise he showed at Lyon was not replicated at the North London club.

But, there are still ways to go for something to be finalised, and the new boss may help to turn around his luck at the English club.
