Match Reaction: Fans react on Twitter as Tottenham Hotspur defeat Leeds United 2-1
As per the club’s official Twitter account, Tottenham Hotspur picked up their first league victory under Antonio Conte by defeating Leeds United 2-1.
The North London club hired the Italian at the start of the month and it has been a slightly chaotic start. They won 3-2 against Vitesse before drawing at Goodison Park against Everton.
However, the 52-year-old was not going to be denied his first league victory against Leeds. The Peacocks have been abysmal this season, winning only two games out of a possible 12. And Spurs had to do the bare minimum on the night.
But Marcelo Bielsa and his men came out fighting. They had more of the ball in the opening half an hour and created more chances. But they were very wasteful until they broke on a counter-attack before the end of the first half.
Conte getting the ball rolling at Tottenham Hotspur?
Jack Harrison ran through the Spurs defence to set up a tap-in for Daniel James and the Welshman did not miss from two yards out. Conte got into his players at half-time and they took control of the ball. Pierre Emile Hojbjerg scored the equalizer with a scrappy shot. However, it was enough to get his Italian boss firing on the touchline.
10 minutes later, we were awarded a free kick just outside Leeds’ six yard-box. Eric Dier was the only man behind the ball and he looked determined. His shot might have been woeful but a lucky deflection led to the ball hitting the post. Sergio Reguilon was the quickest to react and he tapped the ball in from close range. Spurs took the lead and looked in the ascendency.
Harry Kane could have set up at least two more goals and could have scored himself as well but the centre-forward was horrible on the night. Luckily, the defence was resolute and Conte rejoiced at the full-time whistle – an image Tottenham fans will be hoping to see a lot more of during his tenure.
Let us now see how some fans reacted on Twitter to Spurs defeating the Peacocks 2-0 on the night.

Shaky win, but it’s good progression.

Must engage more when defending, occupying space and letting players run off them. Languid in transition and far too safe, rather go sideways and backwards. A win though!

When a player demands to leave just let him go
Conte turned it around at half time, now I can't remember any recent Spurs managers being able to turn it around in such an emphatic way. We have one of the best managers in the world. Onwards and upwards, COYS!
