Ryan Sessegnon keen to channel inspiration from Chelsea duo to succeed at Tottenham Hotspur
Speaking in the pre-match press conference (h/t Evening Standard), Ryan Sessegnon has mentioned that he wants to be a success at Tottenham Hotspur and is looking at Chelsea’s wing-backs for motivation.
The 21-year-old joined Spurs from Fulham in 2019 for a transfer fee of £25m. He has played just 15 matches since then. Injuries kept him from securing a regular spot and he went on to spend last season on loan Hoffenheim.
Antonio Conte has decided that Sessegnon will start the game against NS Mura in the UEFA Conference League this week. While the opponents and the game may not be of a high standard, the Englishman can use it as an opportunity to showcase his abilities to the manager.
The Spurs ace admitted that his time at the club has been disruptive due to various reasons and wants to use the match tomorrow to make a mark. He said that he is happy, relaxed and hopeful of his future at the North London club.
“For me, it’s massive, a chance to really kickstart my career as it has been a very stop-start situation since I’ve been at the club for various reasons. I’m very relaxed about the situation and looking forward to the future.”
The wide-man named the Blues duo Ben Chilwell and Reece James as two wing-backs who has been great this season. He added he could do a similar job in that position as he has played as a winger and a left-back before.
“Chilwell and James are doing very well offensively and defensively for Chelsea this season – at every opportunity, they’re arriving in the box, scoring goals, getting assists. That’s something I like to do as well.”

Sessegnon clearly has high ambitions and it will be a win-win for all should he go on to achieve just that. He has age on his side and it is time he finally puts his potential to good use.
There is every reason to believe that Sessegnon can have a great future under the Italian boss. He is still young and has years ahead of him, which would give him ample chances to get his opportunities. His time in Germany was of great success, and we hope it is just a sign of things to come in North London.
