Son Heung-Min reveals how Tottenham Hotspur beat Brentford by 2-0 and praises Antonio Conte

Tottenham Hotspur saw off a high flying Brentford on Thursday night, after an own goal from Sergi Canos and a goal from Son Heung-min helped them win by a 2-0 scoreline. The victory has lifted them to sixth in the league table with 22 points from 13 matches.

Spurs also have a game in hand, and should they get three points from the outstanding fixture, they would jump up to fourth in the league table. That would be a fantastic turnaround under Antonio Conte, the man who took over the helm from Nuno Espirito Santo. But improvements are noticeable, and if they continue to keep this trajectory, they could end up having a great season.

Speaking in the post-match interview (h/t Daily Mail Online), Heung-Min revealed how Tottenham beat their opponents on the night. He credited Conte’s passion and underlined the attention to detail from the former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager.

“The expectation [before the game] was everyone moves with the ball and without the ball. Everyone knows where to be, everyone should be where he asked for and every player should know what to do. The detail really helps and gives us a boost.”

“He [Conte] is so passionate, I love it. I want to play with passion on the pitch and off the pitch. It is really important even on the pitch he is so passionate, it is really helpful.”

A wonderful sight

While we should not get carried away with this win, we should also be happy with how the team dispatched Thomas Frank’s side. Even though they are a newly promoted team, they have been great this season and have troubled heavyweights like Liverpool and Chelsea.

It is great to see the work that the 52-year-old manager has done and how we had control over the match. While the visitors had their share of possession and chances, we did deal with them pretty well. And as the 29-year-old attacker mentioned above, the details and tactics involved in our play were visible.

However, even with all the positives, we still have room for improvement as we need to be clinical with our chances. And as time passes, we hope that there will be an increase in that department. For now, let’s just enjoy the ride under a manager who seems like he knows what he is doing.
