Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero sends message on social media on his injury

According to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has sent a message on his social media account about his injury. He encountered the issue in the international break during national team duty for the November Qualifiers of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Tottenham signed Romero on a loan deal from Atalanta with an option to buy at the end of the season. The club would have to pay £46.7million in transfer fees to get his services permanently.

The 23-year-old had a great year winning the Copa America with Argentina and helping them qualify for next year’s World Cup. He was also excellent for the Serie A club before moving to England. He is yet to showcase his abilities to the fullest, but the entire team struggled to some extent before Antonio Conte’s arrival.

Romero got injured in November.

“My dream year in every way. It ends like this, unfortunately. My first muscle injury and of this magnitude. Now with my head set on my recovery and eager to return.”

The Argentinian has had tough luck with the injuries as he had joined the club with a knee issue. His most recent injury came at the wrong time considering he would have liked to work under the new manager during the starting few weeks so as to best get adjusted to the new tactics.

Speaking in the pre-match presser (h/t Football.London), the former Inter Milan boss revealed that the centre-back would not return anytime soon. He said:

“This is important. We have all the players available and it’s OK apart from Romero and Giovani Lo Celso. Romero, as I said before, needs a long time to recover.”

He was used in a three-man backline at La Dea by his former manager, Gian Piero Gasperini. While there would be some differences in tactics, he could have instantly slotted into the Italian’s plans at N17. He did play two games before getting injured during the break, and he had looked solid in that time.

Since it is a muscle injury, we need to be very careful, and looking at the degree of the setback, the rehabilitation needs proper observation. We are hopeful that a positive outcome will soon follow in the form of a speedy recovery.
