Tottenham Hotspur handed injury boost through Giovani Lo Celso amidst Covid crisis
According to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur have been handed an injury boost in the form of Giovani Lo Celso amidst a Covid crisis. He was on the sidelines through an injury that he picked up during the international break.
Spurs are going through a crisis after a Covid outbreak in the camp saw eight players and five staff members get tested positive for the virus. Looking at the congested fixtures that are to come in December, this would have been the last thing that Antonio Conte would need in this circumstance.
The return of Lo Celso to first-team training would be a slight relief in these troubled times as the depth of the squad has been shelved. He would still need to get into shape before fully getting cleared to be involved in a game.
The 25-year-old joined Tottenham from Real Betis for a fee of £27.2million in 2020. He could not get going at N17 due to various reasons like setbacks or being out of form. However, he has excelled for his national team since the move and helped them to a Copa America title.
The Argentinian has played 79 matches for the North London club with eight goals and five assists to his name. He is yet to hit the form that he has shown in Spain, where he scored 16 times alongside six assists from 45 appearances.
It is understandable if some would not have high hopes for the midfielder to change his fortunes at the North London club. His last game under Conte was against Everton in the Premier League, where his embarrassing corner is still etched into our minds.
However, he did show a lot of promise in that game if we overlook that one moment. We struggled to create a lot of chances which was an issue at that time, and his substitution turned around the game for us. We were much quicker with our buildup, which resulted in half chances but to our dismay, we could not take advantage of it.

The Argentine international also made a brilliant play where he could have given us the three points, but the post was in the way. Moreover, it may just be about having senior players fit enough to start games for now.
It remains to be seen if the league games get postponed due to the Covid outbreak or not. But if they don’t, Lo Celso would be almost certain to get a nod in the middle of the park.
