Spurs ambassador Ledley King confident Leicester City vs Tottenham Hotspur will take place amid Covid concerns
There have been concerns about whether Leicester City vs Tottenham Hotspur will take place due to Covid outbreaks but Spurs ambassador Ledley King is confident that the clash will go ahead as scheduled. Both teams encountered separate Covid outbreaks within their camps earlier this month.
Tottenham have had two of their matches postponed due to this reason, and Leicester had several players affected as they faced off against Napoli and Newcastle United. However, Antonio Conte and his team were involved in training sessions after the ground got reopened for the clash.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports (h/t LeicestershireLive), King mentioned the league game is expected to go forward, but the situation for the hosts is unknown for now. He added that the North London club wants to keep the momentum going and does not want to reschedule another match.
“I’m hopeful. As far as we’re concerned, we’re pretty confident that we’ll be able to go ahead with it, obviously we don’t know Leicester’s situation at the moment. But I know that the players will be raring to get playing again as well as the fans who have missed the last week of football, they’re raring to see their club going again, obviously coming off the back of some good results and it’s important to keep that momentum going.”
Return to action?
Based on the latest update, the league fixture should be in line to be played on Thursday, but the club legend only gave the perspective of his team. There has been no solid update from the Foxes, but we can expect one soon as the match is set to take place tomorrow.
It would be good to see the team play after some time after having missed a couple of games in succession. But it must be kept in mind that our team is no way near its full strength. The players on the mend will take time to regain match-fitness while we last played a game 10 days back against Norwich City.
It remains to be seen who will be in the matchday squad and who will not, which could give us an idea about the players who have contracted the coronavirus. The team would need to regain the lost momentum that they have been building ahead of this setback.

There were also noticeable improvements before the outbreak, and we would need to do our best to find that back. But it is normal if we would not see that same level of performance since the players would have lost a bit of their match sharpness by now.
A win against Brendan Rodgers’ side would really send out a big statement to the fans and everyone watching elsewhere, considering the obstacles we have had to tackle recently- and not to mention, would boost our chances to crack top 4 this season.
