Antonio Conte: Son Heung-Min is world class and Tottenham Hotspur need players like him
Antonio Conte was not hesitant to praise Son Heung-Min and claimed that he is world-class while mentioning that Tottenham Hotspur need more players like him. The forward has spearheaded the attack for them when his teammates have struggled this season.
Son is on a three-match scoring streak for Tottenham and has helped his team to reach a new height under the Italian coach. He has taken the scoring mantle from Harry Kane this term as the latter has struggled to get going in the Premier League.
Speaking ahead of the match against West Ham United in the Carabao Cup quarter-final (h/t Football.London), Conte expressed his delight for having to coach a player like the South Korean. He added that the attacker has the perfect mix of quality and passion, which makes him a top player.
“We are talking about a really world class player. I have seen him before becoming manager of Tottenham only on TV. But when you have the possibility to train him and become his coach, you can see really the quality of this player. It’s fantastic because he had quality but also run, intensity, the resilience also, and I think that Sonny is a top player. He has to continue in this way and have this anger, this desire, because we need to have players with ambition. You want always more, more, more and we need these players to improve the level of Tottenham.”
A perfect match?
It seems that the Spurs manager has found someone who matches him in every way possible. Both are known for their quality, plus the effort they put in with each performance. That does not mean that others do not share a similar trait within the squad.
It shows that the team is starting to gel together and a cohesive system is being created, which is a stark contrast when compared to how it looked under the tenure of Nuno Espirito Santo. We need to continue this improvement moving forward, and we could have a chance to attain a title this season.
The clash later today would be the perfect opportunity to raise a claim that we could compete for the title. West Ham are genuine contenders for a top-four spot in the league, and they have knocked out title favourites Manchester City from this competition
As for Son, when he came to the Premier League, not many knew about him. But since his move to N17 some six and a half years ago, the South Korean has established himself to be one of the best in the business. Alongside Kane, Son is another priceless gift Mauricio Pochettino gave to our club.

It is now Conte’s job to make sure he gets the best out of the 29-year-old attacker. It remains to be seen if the former Bayer Leverkusen man plays against West Ham so soon after giving it his all against Liverpool just last weekend. But if we want to end our trophy drought, we must make sure we field the best team possible at such a crucial stage in the competition.
