Antonio Conte reveals how Giovani Lo Celso can excel at Tottenham Hotspur

According to Football.London, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has suggested how Argentine international Giovani Lo Celso can contribute to the team following his return from injury.

The midfielder has failed to cement his place in the Tottenham squad despite being handed numerous opportunities to do so. While the same cannot be said of his time under Nuno Espírito Santo, the arrival of Conte could hand him a new breath of fresh air.

There is hope that the Italian can help unlock the 25-year-old’s potential. There is certainly much more to come from the South American.

However, Lo Celso suffered an injury during the recent international break with the Argentine camp. Therefore, he was unavailable for selection under Antonio Conte.

In a press conference earlier today, the Italian manager gave the latest update on Lo Celso’s health and suggested that nothing is stopping him from taking part in games other than his injury.

“Romero and Giovani Lo Celso came back injured. Romero is still injured, and Giovani is trying to have good training sessions, to improve his physical condition and then to be ready to play with us. That is all.”

The Italian has mostly favoured a 3-4-3 during his earlier stints at Inter Milan and Chelsea. However, in his most recent outing, he deployed with a 3-5-2 formation. Antonio Conte suggested how Lo Celso would become a part of the formation after his return to full fitness.

“He can play as a midfielder if we decide to play with three midfielders. He can play as a No. 10 if we decided to play with two No. 10s behind our strikers.”

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli hasn’t found his form this term and remains a weak projection of his past self. The 25-year-old received the nod to start against Liverpool but couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity and missed several easy chances to hand Spurs the advantage.

His lack of game time has put Conte in an uncomfortable position. Whether Lo Celso is a viable alternative remains to be seen.

With the Argentine injured, the Italian manager has no chance but to play inexperienced Oliver Skipp, who has been pretty decent over the weeks in an advanced role. Thus, the return of Lo Celso could provide a massive advantage to the North London squad in the coming months.
