Tottenham manager Antonio Conte makes transfer demand ahead of January window
According to The Guardian, Antonio Conte wants Tottenham Hotspur to sign a centre back and a right-winger during the January transfer window in order to bolster his squad.
Antonio Conte took over the reins at Tottenham from Nuno Espírito Santo earlier this year and has been involved in significant reform work. The Italian manager has applied many strict schedules and physically challenging training sessions to get the best out of the squad.
But it seems only the change in diet or gruelling training program wouldn’t help the former Inter Milan manager form a competitive team. Better quality reinforcements are needed to make sure the squad has ample quality and depth to compete with some of the Premier League’s best teams.
It is believed that Antonio Conte has seemingly asked the club to sign a centre back and a right-winger in the January transfer window.
Players like Dele Alli, Steven Bergwijn, Joe Rodon, Harry Winks and Davinson Sanchez have experienced a rapid drop in performances which has affected their transfer value in the market. All these players could be allowed to leave in January to generate funds, as per Express.
Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, who won the Scudetto with Antonio Conte last season, has been linked with a move in recent times. The 26-year-old defender has become a key player for the Nerazzurri. Given the Slovakian defender’s status and CV, he would be an instant upgrade on a few centre-backs at N17.
To sign the best players in the world, teams need to spend the big bucks. Even if they acquire these players on a free transfer, they have to put forth big wage packages to attract top talent most of the time. Can Spurs be one of those teams to splash big in the future? That is something only time can tell.
The notable sum of money that we acquired this summer was £13m from Villarreal when the La Liga team made Juan Foyth’s loan deal permanent. Other than that, the total revenue generated by Joe Hart, Toby Alderweireld and Moussa Sissoko’s departure was only £15m.

Tottenham have not been afraid to spend to sign talented players. The acquisition of stars such as Davinson Sanchez, Tanguy Ndombele, and potentially Cristian Romero bears witness to that claim.
Similarly, if Conte wants Levy and co to back him in the market with a new defender and a right-winger, our club has to back him. Bryan Gil came in for Erik Lamela this summer but he is clearly not ready to be a regular starter right this instant. The loss of Alderweireld was big and Romero’s injury combined with Conte’s usage of three centre-backs in his formation has further strained that department of our squad.
