Manchester City hold interest in Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as they target summer move for striker

According to ESPN, Manchester City are planning to sign a striker next summer and still hold an interest in Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane. However, a January move is not on the cards as the money from the sale of Ferran Torres would be used to assist them in their pursuit this summer.

Kane was involved in a failed summer saga when the Premier League champions tried to get him ahead of the current campaign. Pep Guardiola was seemingly keen to get him to the Etihad, but nothing materialized.

Man City also have Erling Haaland on their radar as an option to boost their frontline. Academy graduate Cole Palmer is expected to take over Torres’ role in the second half of the season.

Man City battle back on?

We are in a much better situation right now when compared to the days under Nuno Espirito Santo. It was clear from the England captain’s performances that the failed transfer move to Man City had some sort of an impact on him as he struggled to find his form from last season.

That has changed since the arrival of Antonio Conte, and the Spurs star seems to be on the way back to his usual self. Goals have started to arrive for him in the Premier League, and there is a glaring uptick in the quality of his displays.

Earlier this week, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Conte considers the England international to be the main cog of his project. He added that the centre-forward is considered untouchable and is integral to the Tottenham manager’s plans at N17. But that doesn’t mean there cannot be a repeat of the saga we witnessed last summer.

The 52-year-old manager and his high repertoire would have assisted the Tottenham attacker to regain his composure and form. Not to mention, having a big name like Antonio Conte at the managerial helm also instils the belief that the club can finally win some silverware.

The prospect of winning a trophy with the childhood club is always better than winning it somewhere else- or so our fans would tell Kane if they could. He is yet to win a trophy ever since he broke into the first team and set the league alight under Mauricio Pochettino.

Granted, Man City are a more complete project as compared to what we have right now at N17, but a serial winner like Conte choosing to manage us after leading Inter Milan to a Scudetto gives off the vibe that we are a club capable of competing at the biggest level.

Whether Kane believes that too remains to be seen, but there is no question that us fans would want the 28-year-old goal machine to spend the peak years of his career at Tottenham and no other club.
