Real Madrid open to selling Isco amidst Tottenham Hotspur interest

According to Sunday Mirror [Print Edition] (h/t The Express), Real Madrid are willing to sell Isco to Tottenham Hotspur for a loss in the January transfer window. Tottenham have shown an interest in signing him as they look to bring in additions to boost their squad.

The 29-year-old will see his contract with Los Blancos expire at the end of this season. He has largely been sidelined by Carlo Ancelotti and has become a peripheral figure at Santiago Bernabeu. Real will offer his services to Tottenham this month if he opts against renewing his deal.

As a result, Madrid have named a price tag of £5million for the Spaniard, which is considerably lower than the £23million transfer fees they paid for him in 2013 to Malaga. He is not in the Ancelotti’s long term plans and is currently assessing whether to leave in January or wait until the campaign ends.

Isco has struggled for game time this season at Real Madrid.

Spurs are unlikely to meet the valuation that the Spanish club have set for the midfielder as they would rather wait to land him as a free agent. He has also gathered attraction from Italy and Russia but has a preference to move to the Premier League.

Isco to join Spurs?

The prospect of signing the La Liga star is exciting to think about as he still has years left in the top flight. While his consistency has taken a hit, Isco remains a reliable customer on his day. A move elsewhere could be ideal Real to the Champions League three-peat.

Some of our midfielders like Dele Alli, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso could be deemed dispensable if Conte gives his approval. The former duo has shown some spark recently, but that may not be enough to save them from being discarded. Lo Celso has struggled with injuries and has not played enough minutes under the Italian coach.

The potential departure of any of those three midfielders could open up a spot for us to try our cards for the Spain international. We have seen first-hand how the 52-year-old boss can improve the players in his team. If he could help Los Blancos star regain his former quality, we would be getting a valuable asset in the short term.

It remains to be seen how this situation would play out and whether there would be any activity surrounding the Spain ace’s future in the winter transfer window. The price tag set is relatively cheap, so we should try to meet that asking price as his arrival could help us in the bid to challenge for the top four places.
