Bruno Lage responds to Tottenham Hotspur potentially signing Adama Traore

According to Daily Express, Wolverhampton Wanderers manager, Bruno Lage failed to rule out star winger Adama Traore moving to Tottenham Hotspur.

Adama Traore is one of the most overwhelming presences in attack but has struggled to maintain his consistency in recent seasons. The 25-year-old has failed to make any goal contributions in 21 appearances across all competitions this season.

Furthermore, the Spaniard started from the bench for Wolves’ last two Premier League matches. Whether he was benched because of his form or because he is potentially set to leave remains to be seen.

Traore started Wolves’ last game against Sheffield United but Lage decided to substitute him in the 68th minute following an uneventful display.

The former Barcelona graduate has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur. The Sun says Antonio Conte’s team are readying a swap deal that includes out-of-favour star Matt Doherty moving the other way. However, it seems the North London team would need to make an offer in the region of £20million to get their man.

When asked about the interest from Spurs in Traore, Bruno Lage suggested he has no knowledge about such an interest but couldn’t rule out a possibility either.

“I know nothing about that. But what I would say in general is that what is the most important thing in football is that if it’s good for the club and it’s good for the player.”

The Wolves manager further added that he was satisfied with the performance of Traore during the FA cup tie against Sheffield United.

“I’m happy with everyone. I’m happy with Adama and other players in that position.”

Tottenham right-back Matt Doherty moved to Spurs in 2020 but has failed to reproduce the same level of performances he managed at the Molineux. The 29-year-old has fallen down the pecking order. Even though Conte has given the Irish star chances, he has failed to capitalize on them.

Amid such a situation, the Italian has been pushed to start Emerson Royal in most of the games.

It is believed that Conte is planning to use Traore in the wing-back position. The Spaniard’s breathtaking pace and physical strength would give him an edge over the defenders.

However, meeting the demanded price could prove to be a challenge for Tottenham. With the likes of Liverpool also showing interest we will need to act fast to land the player.
