Transfer News: Gini Wijnaldum not included as part of Tottenham Hotspur’s negotiation with PSG on Tanguy Ndombele

According to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is not included in a potential loan deal for Tottenham Hotspur star Tanguy Ndombele.

Spurs’ record-signing Ndombele has been linked with a move away from N17 after failing to impress, and former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to be interested in signing the France international on a loan deal this month.

As part of the loan deal to bring Ndombele to the Parc des Princes, talks were apparently rife about potentially including Dutch star Wijnaldum in negotiations. However, Romano has now dismissed these claims.

Romano claims that Spurs and PSG held talks once again for a loan deal to take Ndombele to France, in a deal that looks to satisfy both parties on the table. The midfielder does not look like he is part of coach Antonio Conte‘s plans at the moment, so a January move may be the best move for him.

Ndombele to PSG?

Wijnaldum himself is said to be looking for a way out from the French capital, with the player not happy about his lack of regular game time in Paris, despite only leaving the Premier League the previous summer. A return to England could have been on the cards involving the latest talks for Ndombele, but this possibility has now been shot down.

The Dutch star moved to PSG from Liverpool last summer but isn’t having the best of times in the French capital. He has not painted himself in glory in PSG’s run to the Ligue 1 title this season, and could leave in the near future in order to rediscover his groove.

With this latest news, Ndombele’s short time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium seems to be coming to a close. Coming from Lyon amidst much hype, especially given that he was our club’s record signing, the Frenchman struggled to live up to expectations and faced multiple niggles during his career in England.

Different managers have come in and walked out since Ndombele’s arrival, but the 25-year-old midfielder has yet to impress any of them and work his way into their plans. Spurs would now be wise to cut their losses and offload the 25-year-old as soon as possible.

With Conte looking for quality in his side and seeking transfers that can turn his team’s fortunes around, Wijnaldum is an interesting name for the Italian to consider. A man with much Premier League experience and known to be ever-reliable and consistent with his performances, the Dutchman could very well have made a good fit at Spurs.

Romano has ruled out Wijnaldum being included in Ndombele’s loan deal, but maybe Spurs could benefit from enquiring about his availability separately, however, there is nothing to suggest if that will ever happen.
