Transfer News: Bryan Gil responds to Tottenham Hotspur exit talks amidst Real Sociedad links

According to Daily Mail OnlineBryan Gil has responded to talks surrounding an exit from Tottenham Hotspur amidst talks to join Real Sociedad. The forward was brought in from Sevilla following his promising displays but he has not replicated it in England so far.

Gil was supposedly in line to return to Spain on a loan deal since game time has been hard to come by at Tottenham. Valencia were interested in taking him for the rest of this season before Real Sociedad joined the race, as per Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Mail).

Apparently, the Spaniard was “not happy” at Spurs and wanted to leave “at all costs” as he was “struggling to adapt to life in England”. However, he has reacted on his social media handle, putting an end to all the uncertainty surrounding his future at Spurs.

Well, that’s that!

As seen above, the laughing emoji and the question marks are enough to let us know that the 20-year-old has no intentions of leaving despite having it difficult to get hold of a regular spot. It is also pretty cheeky of the youngster to ridicule the news straight away himself, putting an end to all doubts that may have arisen about his Tottenham career.

We should, hence, not be bothered by talks of Gil wanting to leave England because he is unhappy at the club. It is natural for a youngster to come in and take some time to adjust to a new league, that too one as intense as the PL.

While the Tottenham forward has had it tough so far, it will be very reactionary to think that he would not be successful since he is only in the starting phase of his career in England. A loan would have made sense if we were blessed with attacking options, but the truth could not be further apart.

Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn are the only senior wingers at Conte’s disposal, while Lucas Moura has been used interchangeably across the frontline. Gil is an out-and-out wide-man and when the chance arises, it is fair to assume the former Inter Milan and Chelsea manager would be willing to field Gil.

More Tottenham Hotspur News

We have not made any signings in the January transfer window so the Tottenham youngster will have more opportunities to make his case since there is a long season ahead of us. Let’s hope that he can gradually showcase the potential he has shown in Spain as it would benefit us in our success in the short and long term.
