Tottenham Hotspur in a three way race for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka

According to the German publication BILD (h/t The Mirror), Tottenham Hotspur have identified Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka as a transfer target amidst interest from Arsenal. His current contract situation has made him an exciting prospect to be prised away in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Ndicka will enter the final year of his current contract in the summer and negotiations over an extension have hit a wall, alerting the interested parties to make their move. The Bundesliga side could sell the player for around £17.5million rather than risk losing him on a free in the future.

Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the situation, adding further competition for Spurs to overcome. It remains to be seen what lies in store for the 22-year-old as Tottenham look to bolster their squad to back Antonio Conte.

Spurs to sign Ndicka?

Securing the opportunity to sign the Frenchman on a cut-price deal is something we should not pass upon. Unlike the January transfer window, Spurs cannot afford to waste time and will be best served to make the opening move.

The Gunners and PSG would undoubtedly pose a stern challenge, so Fabio Paratici and co would need to take appropriate action to face them. The Bundesliga star still has not reached his full potential despite dominating opponents to a great extent so far in his career.

The Die Adler defender has been a regular for his side this season while contributing to their challenge to secure European qualification. He has played in 25 matches this term while earning three clean sheets alongside three goals and two assists across all competitions.

The French centre-back is also versatile enough to play as a left-back which is always a good quality to have as it may come in handy in Conte’s three-man defence. A strong presence in the air, Ndicka has shown a veteran’s composure in leading the defence.

Despite adding Cristian Romero to the squad, we could use further additions in the summer. Ben Davies has done a solid job on the left-hand side of the three-man centre-back system. However, he is not a natural centre half and would need to be replaced in the future.

Joe Rodon has been cast aside, which also opens up the possibility of freeing up space next summer. Japhet Tanganga could also be upgraded, so we have more than enough reasons to vie for the Eintracht Frankfurt star. Whether we will sign him or not remains to be seen.
