Tottenham Hotspur organizes two NFL games every year. attempted to test the Spurs’ star’s knowledge of the sport that Americans call – ‘football’ through a challenge. Winger Lucas Moura and left-back Ben Davies partnered up to play against Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Sergio Reguilón’s team. Read until the end to find out who won the challenge.

The game was played in three rounds, each presenting a unique challenge in front of the Tottenham Hotspur footballers. Here are all the activities comprised of the three rounds:

  • Acting out NFL team names in a game of charades
  • Deciphering NFL jargon such as flea-flicker and Hail Mary
  • Marking NFL team locations on a map

In Round-1, Reguilón took the responsibility to act the charades, and Højbjerg attempted to call all the names correctly. Well, their partnership worked out extraordinarily. Højbjerg took some time to guess the Detroit Lion’s name but went ahead in full steam and guessed the terms of New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins’ names with ease.

On the other hand, the task wasn’t easy for Davies, as he went through a hard time in guessing what his teammate, Moura, was acting. Although he guessed the correct names for Chicago Bears, New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings, he failed to indicate Baltimore Ravens, which cost them the round.

Round-2 started with Højbjerg attempting to Decipher the word – ‘Blitz.’ However, he lost the first point after failing to say it correctly. They further lost a point for not decoding ‘Sack.’ Davies-Højbjerg took some guesses but correctly decoded – Fumble, Stiff Arm and another three more, collecting a total of 5 points.

When the Presenter asked to decode them ‘Fumble, Højbjerg suggested that:

“When somebody fumbled the ball on the ground. Which means I’ll just say fumbled the ball.”

Davies protested their call by saying –

“You can’t just say he fumbled the ball. That’s exactly what he just said; you gotta tell me what it is!”

However, Højbjerg got the correct answer the second time –

“When somebody doesn’t catch the ball.”

Reguilón made a total blunder when decoding ‘Sack’:

“A good player?”

Davies confidently suggested what Hail Mary exactly means in NFL terms.

“Isn’t a Hail Mary where you go for a touchdown from really far away and then everybody like goes flying into the end zone?”

Moura and Davies put a lot of pressure on their opponent by laughing sarcastically after each of their poor decoding attempts. They earned 7 points by adding Horse Collar, Hail Mary, Flea Flicker, and Doink. They won the round by the margin of 2 points.

Davies and Moura made the third round to their name by correctly Marking the location of 12 teams. However, Højbjerg and Reguilón also did well and lost by only 1 point.

Davies and Moura couldn’t believe that they have won the round as they thought they fared poorly and detected very few names. Ben even said after the game –

“How bad did they do if we won with this?”

Davies and Moura performed a top-notch partnership to win the two rounds and eventually won the game. It seems the Spurs players aren’t that bad regarding their knowledge about the NFL. In fact, they have done extensively well in all three rounds!
