Twitter Reaction: Fans react as Tottenham Hotspur steamroll Leeds United in the Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur were provided with some much-need respite in the fixture against Leeds United today at Elland Road. The Lilwyhites cruised to a 4-0 victory to help calm the nerves at N17 after a difficult run of results.
Spurs broke the deadlock via a strike from Matt Doherty in the 10th minute. There was no looking back as the North Londoners ran riot after that, adding three more goals to the tally. Leeds were presented with a great opportunity in the 75th minute after Hugo Lloris failed to clear the ball.
Thankfully, Stuart Dallas took too much time on the ball prompting a clinical block from Ben Davies. Summer signing Dejan Kulusevski once again got on the scoresheet and quickly made it 2-0 in the 15th minute of the game. Another strike from Harry Kane meant that Tottenham had a 3-0 lead going into the second half.
The Lilywhites continued to create openings and Son Heung-Min was a menace for the Whites throughout the match. His hard work throughout the game finally paid dividends as he got himself a much-deserved goal in the 85th minute.
The Peacocks have struggled in their last few Premier League fixtures and Marcelo Bielsa’s side looks like a shadow of the team that they were last season. With the recent unavailability of key players like Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford, the Yorkshire-based side has struggled to get going this campaign.
Spurs themselves have been struggling to maintain their consistency this season. The Lilwyhites slumped to a shock defeat against Burnley after winning against defending Premier League champions Manchester City.
With the early exit from the UEFA Conference League, a top-four finish in the PL could be considered a realistic target for the North Londoners in this campaign. This victory against Leeds United could do our morale a world of good but we will have to continue putting up such displays if we want Champions League qualification next season.
Some fans react as a stellar attacking display helped Tottenham Hotspur triumph over Leeds United
This was an amazing outing for the club in every single way- from a clean sheet to our summer signing getting on the scoreboard once again. That being said, we should not get too ahead of ourselves as Spurs will have to consistently put up such performances if they are to salvage anything resectable out of this season.
Here is how our fans reacted to the wonderful win on Twitter. Enjoy!
