Twitter Reaction: Fans react as Tottenham Hotspur succumb to a defeat against a spirited Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur suffered defeat at the hands of Manchester United courtesy of a stellar display from superstar Cristiano Ronaldo who got a hat-trick to his name on the night. Whilst the North Londoners put together some impressive attacks they fell short on the night thanks to the prowess of the Portuguese forward.

The former Real Madrid hitman broke the deadlock in the 12th minute and we got to see a flurry of goals once that happened. Harry Kane equalized at Old Trafford in the 35th minute via a penalty.

The Red Devils were quick to retaliate and took the lead once again in the 38th minute as Ronaldo got in a great position and put the ball past Hugo Lloris. The Lilyhwites started the second half on the front foot and had a decent amount of possession.

They finally converted all those chances into a crucial goal when Sergio Reguilon sent a low cross into the box in the 72nd minute as Harry Maguire put the ball in his own in an attempt to intercept the ball.

What ensued was pandemonium and just when the club from N-17 thought that they were getting back into the match the Portuguese striker made it 3-2 from a towering header which saw him ripple the net for the third time on the night.

Whilst Spurs had managed to record some impressive victories in their last couple of Premier League fixtures, this game could serve as a reality check. The North Londoners largely struggled to convert their chances after creating several good opportunities.

With a top-four finish in the PL being the most realistic target of this campaign, Spurs still have a long way to go if they want to achieve this feat. They will also have to put in more clinical performances, unlike today.
