Transfer News: Joe Rodon could leave Tottenham Hotspur amidst interest from Brighton

According to Sussex WorldJoe Rodon could leave Tottenham Hotspur next summer amidst interest from Brighton and Hove Albion. He has never been relied upon by Antonio Conte and has found it very difficult to earn minutes under the Italian manager.

Rodon seems set to force a move out of Tottenham after failing to convince Conte about his quality as a central defender. He is eager to play regular football and kickstart his stagnated playing career once again by pushing for a transfer. It seems that a departure may be on the cards even if he has a contract until 2025 at N17.

With the Italian coach opting not to choose the Welshman in his lineups, it would not be too much of a reach to say that his team could look to facilitate a move in the best interest of all the parties involved. Brighton have been monitoring the player’s situation and could make a transfer bid for him in the summer.

Why did Spurs sign Rodon anyway?

It is baffling to see how Rodon’s situation has unravelled at Spurs in the first place. While the 24-year-old was not a world-beater or something when we initially signed him from Swansea City for around £11million back in 2020, it was expected that he would be a superstar in the making for us.

That appeared to be the case when Joe Mourinho was still the Tottenham manager, but things took a turn for the worse under Nuno Espirito Santo and now Conte. It is puzzling to see that happen when the Premier League star has hardly put a foot wrong for us while excelling at the national level as well.

That being said, it seems that there is no way for a change, so it would be wise on our part to allow the Spurs defender to leave after this campaign. After all, we would not want to create unrest and affect the harmony within the team. Not to mention, we could also look to earn a solid sum and use that amount to bring in necessary reinforcements.

More Tottenham Hotspur News

With the Seagulls having shown an interest in the Wales centre-back, we certainly can try to negotiate a decent amount. While Graham Potter did say back in January that signing a defender is not a priority for them, their intentions may have changed since Newcastle United raided them for Dan Burn.

Burn’s exit seems to have affected them as their form has fallen off since amidst a five-match losing streak. They also lost all the promise they built in the early stages of the season and could definitely use reinforcements in the centre-back spot. Rodon can be that man, but only time will give us an answer whether that will prove to be the case or not.
