Brentford boss Thomas Frank wants Christian Eriksen stay amid Tottenham Hotspur interest
Brentford boss Thomas Frank has expressed that he wants Christian Eriksen to stay with them amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur for a future move. The midfielder has returned to action with several sensational performances after suffering a cardiac mishap last summer.
The Bees signed Eriksen on a short-term contract which will expire at the end of this season. Initially, there were doubts regarding whether he would be available to reach his former heights or not after the scary incident during Denmark’s UEFA Euros group game against Finland.
However, the central midfielder has proven that he still can play at a top level for club and country since making his return. Speaking in the pre-match presser after the 4-1 win against Chelsea (h/t Daily Mail Online), Frank has conveyed that it is obvious that he wants the Dane to stay with them past this summer.
“In any footballer’s decision to move clubs there are a lot of aspects. It will be the same for Christian. To be fair, I know Christian quite well and one thing he’s good at is just enjoying the moment. And I think he’s enjoying it even more. So we are not thinking too much of what is going to happen in two or three months’ time.
Brentford are also looking very likely to stay in the PL. They currently sit in 14th position with 33 points from 31 games- a tally that would have seen them survive the drop last season. And that is considering the fact that they have 7 more games to go.
“I’m just very pleased he’s playing for us. It’s no secret that I want him to continue next season. I know Christian is enjoying his football and really enjoying being back. I know I will have to answer these questions until the end of the season, so let’s see what will happen.”
Spurs, get this deal done!
The 30-year-old has played four matches in the Premier League with Frank’s side and has a goal and an assist in his tally as of now. However, his influence is not restricted to just goal involvements, which was evident in his latest game, having played a major part in thumping the Blues by a 4-1 scoreline.
The former Inter Milan man has certainly impressed since his return to action, so he could prove to be a useful option for us come this summer. After all, he would be available on a free transfer, plus looking at his current displays, it is safe to say the Dane is operating at a very high level once again.
It is refreshing seeing us linked with him again given it would be a highly emotional return- were it to happen. However, we will face competition for his services, with Manchester United also vying to get hold of him to boost the quality of their squad.

Eriksen is an able creator and a smart passer of the ball. He was one of the shining lights in this Spurs team ever since he joined us from Ajax in 2013. He departed for Inter in the winter of 2020.
Hopefully, we can get our hands on the 30-year-old star once again. After all, he would be a great option to have on the bench for us considering he has shown during his short spell with the Bees that he can handle PL football quite well.
